During last two weeks, the customs officers prevented several attempts for smuggling of various goods, temporarily seizing foreign currency, apparel, paint, plastic clothes pegs, controllers and heaters for solar water heaters and counterfeits.

The following goods were seized:

Heroin
The Mobile Customs Teams, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, and on grounds of a warrant issued by the First Instance Court in Prilep, searched the home of a Macedonian citizen from Prilep with the assistance of a customs  drug-sniffing dog, and found an aluminum patch with white powder next to the yard fence under thick grass and thorns. The analysis of the substance at the police station in Prilep showed that it is a heroin weighing 50 grams. The case has been handed over to the Ministry of Interior for further proceeding.

Foreign currency
- 5,000 Euros, detected at the International Airport Skopje, during control of a Serbian citizen who arrived from Zurich. In his handbag, the customs officers found 15.000 Euros. 10.000 Euros were returned to him, in accordance with the law as an amount that a non-resident can freely bring in the country. A misdemeanor procedure will be initiated against the passenger for the committed foreign currency offense.

Apparel and other products
- 8,292 pieces of different goods (socks, tracksuits, blouses, plastic pegs, paint and wireless portable receivers), detected in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, during inspection of a Bulgarian registered car, driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entry in the country at the border crossing point Novo Selo. The undeclared goods, found in the boot, on the back seats and under the front seats of the vehicle, have been seized and an appropriate procedure will be initiated against the driver.

- 188 pieces of apparel (coats, blouses, trousers, jeans, jackets and dresses) found in two separate cases, during inspection of two Macedonian registered cars, driven by Macedonian citizens, declared for entrance into the country at the border crossing point Bogorodica.

In the first case, 126 pieces of children's clothing (jeans, jackets, dresses and sets of jackets with jeans) were found in several bags placed in the boot, on the back seats and under the front seats of the vehicle, that belonged to a a Macedonian citizen, passenger in the car .

In the second case, 62 pieces of women's clothing (coats, blouses, trousers and jeans) were found in two suitcases and several bags placed between the seats of the vehicle. In both cases, the undeclared goods were seized, and appropriate procedures will be initiated against the perpetrators.

Goods suspected of infringing intellectual property rights
- 93 controllers for solar water heaters bearing logo of protected trademark, detected by the mobile customs teams in cooperation with inspectors from the Investigation Department, during control of goods originating in China, destined for an importer from Kumanovo, customs cleared at the Customs Office Kumanovo. Due to suspicion that the products violate intellectual property rights, the goods were seized, and in accordance with the law, a procedure will be initiated to determine their authenticity.

Besides the mentioned products, 40 heaters and 7 controllers for solar water heaters were detected as surplus and not included in the customs documents. The undeclared goods were seized, and a request for initiation of a misdemeanor procedure will be filed against the importer.
